| Tough Man for a Tough Job |

Mark Hurd, Hewlett Packard’s Chief Executive Officer, has done a great deal to revitalize HP from the verge of collapse. Since he manned the helm, he has managed to turn it around and back on track, like with the acquisition of Compaq. But that said, he also made some shocking decisions, like laying off 10% of the total of the company’s workforce, a whopping 15,000 HP employees. Still, it is quite understandable that mega-companies have to do harsh measures for harsh times.
Mark Hurd though, is not a harsh guy.
It is a tough job being a CEO but apparently, Hurd has done measures that have since benefited the company; the big turnaround HP is undergoing with him in control is a clear indication of that, though some clearly do not approve his methods. This is quiet understandable though, what with the state Hewlett-Packard was in when Hurd took the reins. Bleak times call for measures that some might regard as heavy handed.
And these are what he took. Measures. Measures that have seen the company enjoy a 38% and 13% increase in net income and revenue respectively.
Currently, with Hurd at the helm, HP is doing well as a company. The CEO though, is not lying on his laurels.
