The danger of poor credit scores will not become readily apparent, but will certainly become apparent when the student approaches a bank for credit at a later point in time. The rules of credit bureaus are pretty straightforward. The amount of money that an individual borrows will be reflected in his or her credit report and the credit limits that each person can retain will be reflected in the amount of credit that the individual has previously “borrowed” and has paid back on time. Simple, right?
One additional point of interest … the credit card company is supposed to report each transaction that is been done on a particular credit card account to the three major credit bureaus promptly. But this does not happen in every case. More specifically, secure student credit cards or prepaid cards, often times will not report transactions to the major credit bureaus. Therefore, it is the users responsibility to make sure that the credit card transaction history is indeed being reported to the credit bureaus and is being done done in a timely manner. Remember, an unnoticed credit transaction does not do any good to improve your credit history.

February 25, 2006 - Let me begin by making the statement that
the issues below deal specifically with the United States, but
I personally feel they apply to the world as a whole. Individuals
make up this planet, and we have responsibilities.
This article is such a deviation from my typical writing, but
some things just need to be said or a person will go crazy.
Here we, the citizens of the United States, sit on what should
be a peaceful Saturday morning with our fate in the hands
of those that hold only TEMP JOBS in Washington, D.C.
The latest development? The current administration [secretly]
is selling off the security rights to our major U.S. ports:
Miami, New York, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Baltimore, New
Orleans
Sure enough, “the Bush administration approved the ports
deal last month”(1) giving up control of our major harbors
to the United Arab Emirate (UAE).
How does that grab you???
It should tear your heart out and make you break out in a
cold sweat!
Our country is supposed to be based on the premise that
“we the people” make the decisions. The Declaration of
Independence (the men that signed that 200+ years ago
must be rolling over in their graves!) clearly states that
those in a position to act MUST act. It’s not referring to
the temp job holders in Washington, D.C., and various
States and counties - it refers to US, the citizens, the
individuals comprising this country.
I’ve been on this planet for about a half a century now,
and the one thing I’ve always (tried) to believe is that we
the people have the right to speak up and defend what is
right for ALL OF US.
Do we just continue to sit by and let the temp workers of
our nation dictate our fate? Are we afraid of reprisal? Or
are we just so lazy we’ll leave our lives in the hands of others?
Shock, disgust, disappointment, fear - these must be overcome
and “we the people” need to get a grip and voice our opinions.
You have the right to be heard. You have the responsibility
to be heard. Contact your government representatives on
this, and EVERY issue. If we don’t, we give up our rights and
the rights of future generations.
Freedom… is it just a hollow word?

Now this is not the same as giving humorous talk. That is a most difficult speech to deliver effectively, requiring a special talent and skill. These tips have to do with the
use of humor in your presentations, whatever these may be, to help make your
points clear and remembered.
Everything that said in my previous article, Humor - Tips for Using it in Everyday
Conversation, also applies to using humor in speeches. But public or platform
speaking at is sometimes called does have some additional considerations. Almost
every professional speechwriter agrees on what the important ones are.
First
You are speaking to present an idea or discuss a subject. Use only those jokes or
bits of humor that help you do that. A funny story that has nothing to do with your
subject won’t help you or your audience. Often a person is inclined to begin a
presentation with a joke or humorous story. Your are immediately on shaky ground
when you do. You have, in effect, a stand-alone bit of humor. It may or may not get
the laugh you want. If the audience does not laugh, then you’ve lost that moment of
initial interest audiences always give a speaker.
One way to overcome this risk is making sure your opening story has a point so
strong that even if the laugh does not come, you can continue immediately
focusing on the point of your story.
Second
With humor you can actually make a point three times. You make your statement,
follow it with your joke to highlight or illustrate what you just said, then you restate
your original point. Three times you made your point: Your statement, the
illustrative joke, a restatement. The listener, in recalling the humor at a future time,
also recalls the point associated with it.
One comedy-writing technique to help you fit a story to your subject is called
“Switching.” You can change either the build up or the punch line for it to fit your
subject matter.
Example of changing the build up:
Original:
Neighbor: Do you like your new sister, Tommy?
Tommy: Oh yes, but there are lots of things we needed more.
Switched:
Friend: I hear your mother married again. Do you like your new father?
Tommy: He’s all right, but there’s lots of things we needed more.
Example of changing the punch line:
Original:
Desperate panhandler: Lady, I haven’t eaten in four days.
Rich lady: Young man, you must learn to force yourself.
Switched:
Panhandler: Lady, I haven’t eaten in four days. Can you help me.
Rich Lady: Certainly. I recommend The Ritz, a wonderful restaurant on 14th
Street.
Take time to practice switching jokes. Beside being fun, it will expand your
story file.
Third
Try to personalize and localize your stories. Instead of saying “a man” and “a city”
give the man and the city names that the audience recognizes. If you can use their
locale and people in the audience, so much the better. Work yourself into the joke
as though you saw it happen, and if you can become the fall guy, better still. They’ll
love you for it.
Fourth
When your joke has quotes, deliver them in the style of the jokes above. Do not say,
“He’s all right,” said Tommy, “But there’s lots of things we needed more”. That’s OK
in writing, but in speaking it slows down the story.
With a practice you can make amusing stories funny ones.

1. Treat each day as a rare gift of opportunity. Each sunrise gives you a chance to call more people, identify more prospective clients, and close more sales. Forget about the frustrations of yesterday. Focus on the opportunities of today. Each day that we have is all that we have, and each day is a gift, so don’t waste it. Today is the olympic event of your life, so stop pretending it’s a dress rehearsal. Make it count.
2. Become competitive against your last hour. Compare your performance of this hour with the performance of your last hour, especially when it comes to pounding the phones if you sell over the phone or set up appointments that way. Your entire year is made up a series of hours, so each hour counts. These simple instructions will help you maximize your output of calling efforts by keeping your focus on an hour-by-hour basis.
3. Ask yourself the following question throughout the day: “What is the best use of my time, right now?” Ask yourself that question when you are on your fourth personal call of the day. Increase your “hustle factor” by asking that question repeatedly throughout the day.
4. Write down two or three major objectives that you hope to accomplish for the week, and do the same for the day. Your weekly objective might be to close five sales. Your daily objective might be to set up four appointments for the day, or to make one sale.
Keep it simple, and focus on results and outcomes as well as your process. By following these four simple steps, you will not only be closer to your goals, but you will also start feeling like you actually deserve success because your efforts now justify it.
